The Maldives 2.0 team recently hosted an orientation session to introduce our e-Government services to key stakeholders in local government.
The session focused on how digitalising their processes through the oneGov platform can transform the way they deliver public services and improve their internal workflows.
Held on the afternoon of 19th May 2025 at our Head Office, the event brought together members of the Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works, alongside representatives from the Local Government Authority (LGA).
The session marked a key step in strengthening collaboration between Tradenet and local government institutions as we work towards a more integrated and citizen-focused approach to governance.

Deepening Our Commitment to Citizen-Centric Services
This orientation is part of our ongoing efforts to facilitate the implementation of the 8 pillars of the Maldives 2.0 initative, with this orientation session being related to Pillar 6: Citizen-Centric E-Government Services.
Public services must be built around the needs of the people. They must be made more accessible, efficient, and transparent.
By working closely with government institutions at every level, we can ensure digital tools serve real needs and deliver meaningful improvements to citizens’ everyday interactions with government services.

The Current System
During the session, the Assistant Director of the Council Digitalisation Section at the LGA, Ms. Fathimath Nazira, delivered a presentation on their current systems and digitalisation efforts over the years.
She outlined how local councils manage administration, service delivery, and community engagement through a combination of digital tools and manual processes. Her presentation provided valuable insight into both the progress made and the ongoing challenges faced by local councils.
Her presentation also helped us identify areas where oneGov could deliver the greatest impact, such as by improving coordination, reducing duplication, and enhancing overall efficiency.

High-Level Engagement and Support
The Honourable Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works, Mr. Adam Shareef Umar, joined us for the session, signalling strong political will to support digital transformation at the local governance level.
His presence, alongside members of the Local Government Authority, reaffirmed the importance of aligning efforts between central and local bodies in delivering better services.
The Potential of oneGov
The Managing Director of Tradenet, Ms. Saeeda Umar, also delivered an address during the session.
In her speech, she introduced the capabilities of oneGov and outlined how the system is designed to simplify and streamline service delivery across government bodies. She highlighted how it offers a single point of access for citizens while reducing complexity and overhead for service providers.
By enabling real-time coordination, standardised workflows, and cross-agency visibility, oneGov can empower institutions to work more efficiently and deliver services with greater speed and accountability.

Building the Future of Public Service
As we move forward, we remain deeply committed to collaborating with local and national stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of our pillar of Maldives 2.0, His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s digital transformation initiative.
Our aim is clear: to help build a responsive, modern public service ecosystem that meets the evolving needs of our people.
Together, we are shaping a future where technology and public service go hand in hand—driven by the values of inclusivity, efficiency, and accountability.
