Tradenet Concludes EGM and Adopts New Identity in Line with Presidential Decree

Tradenet Maldives Corporation Limited has successfully concluded its first Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of 2025, held at 4:00 PM on 15th October.

The landmark meeting brought together the Board of Directors and key stakeholders to formally approve a significant turning point in the company’s evolution as a central player in the digital transformation of public services in the Maldives.

Convened under the direction of a Presidential Decree issued by His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the EGM centred on the restructuring and renaming of Tradenet to better reflect its broadened mandate in driving digital innovation across the nation.

The discussions and decisions made during the session mark a turning point in how the organisation will continue to support and accelerate the country’s digital evolution.

A New Identity for a Digital Future

At the core of the EGM’s agenda was the formal adoption of revisions to the company’s Memorandum and Articles of Association.

These revisions included a change to the company’s name and identity, as well as the alignment of its Articles with the model Articles jointly-formulated by the Privatization and Corporatization Board and the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

This change was undertaken in accordance with a Presidential Decree issued by His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The decree, which mandated both the restructuring and renaming of Tradenet, underscored the government’s dedication to driving forward the Maldives’ digital innovation agenda.

In line with the Maldives 2.0 Roadmap, this move reflects a broader strategy to enhance institutional capacity within the technology and innovation sectors and to solidify the foundations of a digitally-empowered public sector.

The EGM served as a formal endorsement of Tradenet’s expanded mandate. No longer limited to operating as a unified national platform for public service delivery, the company has now assumed the role of being the innovation and technology arm of the Government.

This transition recognises Tradenet’s growing contribution to national digital progress and reinforces its strategic position in implementing the state’s digital policies.

Embracing a New Mandate

Over the years, Tradenet has been instrumental in powering key digital platforms such as Tradian, which simplifies trade procedures, and oneGov, the unified portal connecting citizens, businesses, and government services.

The rebranding confirms the company’s continued commitment to building smart, technology-driven solutions that promote digital inclusion across the public and private sectors.

The newly-adopted identity now stands as a symbol of this renewed direction, one focused on fostering innovation, strengthening digital infrastructure, and supporting the Maldives’ transition towards a digital-first future.

As MINDCo, the company will take on a larger and more dynamic role in shaping the Maldives’ digital landscape. Its mission will extend beyond the development of systems and platforms to include fostering innovation, building national digital capacity, and driving projects that make technology more accessible and impactful across the nation.

This transition is more than a change of name. It is a statement of intent. It reflects a national commitment to innovation, modernisation, and digital sovereignty.

Moving forward, MINDCo will continue to build on the foundations laid by Tradenet whilst exploring new opportunities to accelerate progress in line with the government’s vision of a connected, technology-driven Maldives.

The first EGM of 2025 marks not only the end of one chapter but the beginning of another: one that places innovation, collaboration, and digital excellence at the heart of the nation’s growth.

With this formal transition complete, MINDCo enters an exciting new chapter in its journey, poised to lead as a central pillar in the country’s national digital transformation.
