The Need for Tradian

The Need for Tradian

The introduction of Tradian is aimed at addressing border inefficiencies impeding cross-border trade. By consolidating various trade transactions via a unified single platform, Tradian seeks to streamline the entire trade processes and procedures, thereby significantly reducing transaction processing time and lowering associated costs.

The unified approach offered by Tradian will improve accuracy by minimizing the need for repetitive data entry, thereby reducing the likelihood of errors. It will also enhance transparency across all stages of the trade process, as all stakeholders will have access to real-time information and a clear view of the procedural steps. This consolidated system will foster a more efficient, predictable, and user-friendly trade environment, ultimately strengthening the Maldives’ position in the global market.

Ensuring that the current challenges in international trade are addressed through Tradian is crucial for achieving streamlined and efficient trade operations. By integrating various trade-related processes into a single platform, Tradian aims to eliminate the fragmentation that currently plagues the system, leading to a more competitive and efficient trading environment in the Maldives.

As a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and a signatory to the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), it is highly recommended for member countries to implement single window environments to facilitate paperless trade at the border.

The successful implementation of Tradian will enable the Maldives to fully comply with Article 10.4 of the TFA, improving the country’s TFA implementation status. Additionally, the Tradian will allow the Maldives, as a member of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), to comply with the obligations of the FAL Convention, which came into effect on January 1, 2024.

With the full rollout of Tradian, the Maldives will make significant strides in transforming border-related trade and transport procedures, enhancing the country’s trade competitiveness outlook.

The launch of Phase 1 of Tradian is currently scheduled for November of this year. To ensure a smooth transition to Tradian, we’ve begun offering a series of Tradian Training Sessions.

These sessions are designed for shipping agents, freight forwarders, importers, exporters, and Cross Border Regulatory Agencies (CBRAs) to help you understand the new platform and how to use it efficiently.

The training sessions cover the basics of the platform and the various services available through it, along with tailored training sessions based on the specific needs of applicants.

You can register for the training sessions through the Tradian website via the link below:
