Newsroom

As of 21st September 2025, the Maldives National Single Window platform for trade known as Tradian is now the sole digital gateway for a range of key trade services in the Maldives.
This shift marks the end of parallel submissions for these services and the beginning of a new chapter in the nation’s trade journey.
These services that were once delivered through both Tradian and other service channels are now available only through Tradian.
What Has Changed?
Until recently, traders and shipping professionals could submit applications for certain trade-related services either through Tradian or via the individual portals or systems of Cross-Border Regulatory Authorities (CBRAs).
The services available this way were:
Vessel Registration
Vessel Estimated Time of Arrival / Departure
Manifest Submission
Selected import and export permits and licences
This dual system was only ever intended as a temporary measure, easing the path to full adoption.
As of 21st September, that chapter has now closed. These services can no longer be applied for through CBRA portals or any alternative tools.
For the trade community, this means all applications for these services must now be sent in solely through Tradian, ensuring uniformity and consistency across the board.

Why the Transition?
The move to consolidate services under one digital roof is not simply a procedural change. It represents a cornerstone of the Maldives’ broader digital transformation strategy.
By fully transitioning to Tradian, the government has sought to achieve three main objectives:
Efficiency and Simplicity
Traders and shipping agents previously had to navigate multiple platforms, each with its own requirements and processes. With this transition, we have taken a major step in establishing a system where everything is centralised while duplication of submissions and delays of service delivery are greatly reduced.Global Connectivity
As international trade becomes increasingly digital, alignment with regional and global single window systems has become essential. Through Tradian, the Maldives is now better positioned to integrate with these networks, ensuring that local businesses remain competitive in the international market.Transparency and Growth
A unified platform allows for better oversight, accountability, and accuracy in trade processes. This fosters confidence across the trade community while laying the groundwork for long-term growth.

Responding to the Transition
With the transition complete, businesses must adapt swiftly to ensure operations continue without disruption. Here are the key steps stakeholders should now take:
Register on Tradian
If you have not yet registered, it is essential to do so immediately.Registration can be completed online via tradian.gov.mv using your eFaas account.
Without an active account, you will not be able to access some services critical to day-to-day operations.
Familiarise and Train
Companies should join the training sessions hosted by Tradian to familiarise their staff on the platform’s functionality.Familiarity will not only prevent mistakes but will also help maximise the efficiencies Tradian was designed to deliver.
Use Support Resources
Guidance materials and step-by-step registration assistance are available online.
For businesses encountering issues, Tradian’s support channels remain ready to assist.
You can contact support in the following ways:
Phone – 3334001
Email – support@tradian.gov.mv
Plan Ahead
With all services consolidated, early submission and proactive management of applications will help avoid bottlenecks, especially during peak trading periods.

Looking Ahead
The transition to Tradian marks a significant milestone in its implementation journey. However, it is only the beginning.
Parallel submissions for the Vessel Declaration (VD) module are scheduled to commence soon. This service will allow Shipping Agents to begin submitting vessel-related data through Tradian, while continuing with the existing process during the transition period.
This module has been designed in alignment with the IMO FAL Convention, ensuring that standardised electronic data exchange requirements for ship reporting formalities are fully supported.
This will help streamline clearance processes, improve efficiency, and enhance compliance with international best practices.
Additionally, preparations for Tradian Phase II are already underway. Services that will be coming to Tradian in this phase include:
Goods Declaration for all Import and Export Cargo
Airline Registration
Airline Fleet Registration and Updates
Flight Schedule Submission
Air Manifest Submission
Airline Agent, Brokers, Post and Courier Agents Registration
All remaining Trade related License, Permits, Certificates to be issued via Tradian
The services included in Phase II will allow even more trade stakeholders to use Tradian to apply for these services.
This will further simplify their work and help overcome any obstacles and bottlenecks that may arise during the import and export process.

A Landmark Moment
The transition to Tradian is more than a technical update. This National Single Window system represents a major step in the country’s digital transformation journey.
By bringing together multiple government agencies and private sector stakeholders onto a single digital platform, Tradian simplifies trade processes, reduces paperwork, and enhances transparency.
For the trade community, it represents a shift towards modernisation, transparency, and global readiness.
For businesses, it is both a challenge and an opportunity: a challenge to adapt quickly, and an opportunity to benefit from a streamlined, future-focused system.
In embracing Tradian, the Maldives has taken a decisive step towards a more efficient and connected future.
The message is clear: the future of trade facilitation is here, and it is digital.
